Local photographers inspired by Lichfield Cathedral competition

A photo competition run by Lichfield Cathedral on Facebook has seen budding snappers take an array of fascinating and intriguing images of the historic building.

People were invited to submit their best picture of the cathedral to be in with a chance of winning a family ticket (two adults and two children) to see either of the two Disney films – WALL-E or The Jungle Book – being screened at the cathedral as part of its spectacular Great Exhibition this summer.

The winning photo, from Phil Drury, provided a unique perspective of the cathedral, with the cathedral staff choosing the winning photo as it reflected what the Great Exhibition was all about; a means by which visitors could view the cathedral in a unique way.

The Great Exhibition, titled ‘Earth: What a Wonderful World?’, takes place from Saturday 19th to Monday 28th August and will feature a range of stunning artistic visual elements to examine how the natural world has influenced architecture throughout history, including the cathedral itself, which dates back more than 1,300 years.
