Winners of 2018 Good Food Awards Announced

The best food & drink businesses in Staffordshire have been crowned at a glittering awards ceremony.

The 2018 Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards, held in the 1907 Suite at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Monday 22nd October, announced the winners of 10 accolades in front of an audience of almost 150 industry guests.

The Boat Inn, near Lichfield was named Independent Restaurant of the Year, while The Roebuck in Leek was Pub of the Year, and The Cottage Kitchen Country Café, near Leek, won Tea Room/Coffee Shop of the Year.

It was a good night for the Staffordshire Moorlands, with The Three Horseshoes Country Inn, Leek, winning the Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year award for the second successive year.

There were awards for South Staffordshire’s Essington Farm (Afternoon Tea of the Year), and Stoke-on-Trent’s Seed Chocolate (Specialist Food & Drink Retailer of the Year).

Tamworth’s Buzzards Valley Vineyard and Calcott Turkeys won Drinks Manufacturer of the Year and Food Processor, Producer or Distributor of the Year respectively.

And Denstone Hall Farm Shop near Uttoxeter was named the Farm Shop of the Year, as well as being selected for the special Judges Choice Award for getting a faultless 100% score on their inspection and their continuous achievement of excellence customer service.

The prestigious black tie event, was organised by Destination Staffordshire and NFU Mutual’s Stone Agency, and hosted by BBC Midlands Today’s Joanne Malin.

Continuing the theme of celebrating Staffordshire food and drink, it included a three-course dinner featuring Staffordshire ingredients from Denstone Hall Farm, Packington Pork, Needwood Ice Cream and Cottage Delight.

  3. Bradbury’s Farm Shop & Butchery, Lichfield

Tea Room/Coffee Shop of the Year

  1. The Cottage Kitchen Country Café, Leek
  2. Ramblers Retreat Country Tea Room, Alton
  3. Roaches Tea Room, Leek

Public House of the Year

  1. The Roebuck, Leek
  2. The Lymestone Vaults, Newcastle-under-Lyme
