A glittering awards ceremony will decide Staffordshire’s best food & drink businesses this month, with six from Lichfield in the running.

Darwin’s Restaurant at The George Hotel, Pom’s Kitchen and Chapters Tea Room from Lichfield city centre have been shortlisted for the Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards.

Competing with them at the event, at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Monday 22nd October, will be The Boat Inn at Muckley Corner, Delhi 6 at Little Aston, and Bradbury’s Farm Shop at Curborough Hall Farm.

They will be up against other Taste of Staffordshire-accredited businesses from across the county, in nine categories including Tea Room/Coffee Shop of the Year, Public House of the Year, and Independent Restaurant of the Year.

The black tie gala dinner, in the 1907 Suite at Uttoxeter Racecourse, will feature Staffordshire produce like Denstone Hall Farm beef, Cottage Delight chutney, Packington Pork and Needwood Ice Cream.

It has been organised by Destination Staffordshire, in partnership with NFU Mutual’s Stone Agency, and will be hosted by BBC Midlands Today presenter Joanne Malin.

Destination Staffordshire Senior Marketing Officer Andrea Sammons said: “The Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards is our chance to thank our food & drink businesses for the contribution they make to Staffordshire tourism.

“With their commitment to delivering the best experience to their customers, through the highest standards of food and customer service, they are helping to put the county on the map as a foodie destination.

“We look forward to celebrating their role and recognising their hard work.”

Tickets are priced at £55 per person, or £550 for a table of ten, and are available from www.enjoystaffordshire.com/tastetickets until Monday 15th October.
