Get ready for some fantastic funky summer music

Get ready for some fantastic funky summer music as Summer Sundaes at The Hub welcomes Birmingham based Heavy Beat Brass Band (12 noon, Aug 8). A new NOLA style brass band, they remix modern jazz, pop and funk music with the heavy sounds of New Orleans. HBBB are a unique brass band made up of 8 young professional musicians personally mentored by Keith Frazier of New Orleans’ own Rebirth Brass Band.

Featured on ITV’s This Morning with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, HBBB are guaranteed to shake the Market Square! Since forming Heavy Beat have hit the ground running, performing across the UK and overseas, including Matt and Phreds, BBC Radio 6 Great Escape Festival, Blues Kitchen, Derry Jazz Festival, Button Factory Dublin, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Shambala Festival, Wychwood Festival and the Hare and Hounds Kings Heath. Big and loud – toe tapping guaranteed!!

And the party doesn’t stop there, as at 4pm the Hub has The Tom Lindsay Trio, when twinkle-fingers Tom will be playing popular jazz standards with a Rhythm ‘n Blues flavour. No stranger to the Lichfield Jazz Scene, Jazz pianist and vocalist Tom Lindsay will lead his trio through a selection of material including jazz standards, as well as some original tunes and songs too. Tom's recent album 'Now's the Time' features a wide selection of jazz and pop and no doubt a few of these tunes will make it into the set list!

The Hub Creative Director Anthony Evans says: "Also lined up for you on Aug 8, we have some great family entertainment with Family Art inspired by Van Gogh, led by local artist Emma Cooper of Primrose Cottage (10am) and The Wondrous Funderstorm will be around and about all day with a host of magical creatures for you to meet.

The Bull and the Moon (11am & 3pm) is a dance piece from Spin Arts, aimed at young audiences from 3+. It tells the story of a little bull who doesn’t want to join the bull fight or lead a herd of cows but, inspired by the dancing moon, dreams of becoming a female flamenco dancer."

Summer Sundaes from The Hub is the best place in Lichfield to kick back, relax and enjoy the summer. The next Summer Sundae will be August 15. For all information about each of our Summer Sundaes visit www.thehubstmarys.co.uk
