Boat Gathering

Glorious weather attracted record numbers of visitors on the first day of the Huddlesford Heritage Gathering.

The Gathering, a biennial event organised jointly by Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust and Lichfield Cruising Club, featured historic boats, floating traders, private boats and classic vehicles, with exhibitors and displays on the field.

The Mayor of Lichfield, Mrs Deborah Baker, formally opened the Gathering and also among the visitors was Wendy Morton, MP for Brownhills-Aldridge.

Although the second day was, as predicted, badly disrupted by heavy rain in the afternoon, when a few hardy traders stuck it out while others gave up, organisers were thrilled with the event overall.
