Organisers of a prestigious awards ceremony are urging the county’s best food and drink businesses to put themselves forward after announcing details of this year’s event.

The 2018 Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards, to be held in the 1907 Restaurant at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Monday 22nd October, will reveal the winners in 11 categories including restaurants, pub, tea room/coffee shop and farm shop.

To be considered, all businesses have to do is apply for the Taste of Staffordshire Quality Marque before Friday 31st August.

This involves an independent inspection of the quality of their food & drink and where it comes from, alongside their standards of customer service and hygiene.

If successful, they are automatically entered into the Good Food Awards, and receive a listing for their business on the Enjoy Staffordshire website.

Destination Staffordshire Senior Marketing Officer Andrea Sammons said: “This is our opportunity to celebrate our best food and drink businesses, and the huge contribution they make to Staffordshire tourism.

“They show the highest standards of food & drink and customer service and a commitment to using locally-sourced produce wherever possible and giving visitors the best possible experience.

“The awards are open to all businesses accredited with the Taste of Staffordshire Quality Marque, but to be considered for this year’s accolades they need to get in touch with us before Friday 31st August, to give enough time for inspectors to visit.”

Around 150 guests are expected at the black-tie ceremony, which will also celebrate Staffordshire’s best restaurants, afternoon tea, brewery, drinks manufacturer, food producer, specialist retailer and food & drink event.

Tickets are now on sale for the event, with savings available if booked in advance.

Early Bird tickets, which are available to buy until Monday 16th September, are priced at £50 each, or £500 for a table of ten.

Afterwards, prices go up to £55 per ticket, or £550 for a table.
