The Word: Poetry Festival

Join us at Lichfield Cathedral for our first ever poetry festival. We’ll be celebrating creativity through the form of the written word, exploring themes of ‘Awe & Wonder’ and ‘Light in our Darkness’.
Spark your creativity by entering our Poetry Competition in one of the four age categories (see website for details on how to enter). Entries close on 3 October 2019.
Come along to our evening Poetry showcases to hear from some of the most inspiring poets of our day, including Benjamin Zephaniah and Michael Symmons Roberts.
Learn to hone your craft or explore whether creative writing is for you in a week full of workshops for local poets including current Staffordshire Poet Laureate, Emily Rose Gavin.
Whether you are new to poetry or a creative writer already, this poetry festival has something for everyone to find meaning and expression through words.
