Candlemas Carol Service
Candlemas (properly known as the Feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple) signals the real end to the Christmas season. This carol service, sung by the Cathedral Choir, celebrates the joy of Jesus, ‘the word made flesh’, coming to us as a human being at Christmas and invites us to look forward to the rest of the story and to think about the loving purposes of God who redeems us through the cross. It is a ‘bitter sweet’ festival full of hope and joy but the shadow of the cross is cast over it. The beauty and richness of the words and music help us to reflect on Jesus being the light of the world.
