Winston’s Whistle-Stop Tour Arrives at Thomas Land

The wait is over! Winston’s Whistle-Stop Tour arrived at Staffordshire-based Drayton Manor Theme Park’s Thomas Land attraction today (Friday 19th July).

A host of celebrities, including Thomas & Friends™ storyteller Mark Moraghan, This Morning’s Alison Hammond, model Danielle O’Hara, eager members of the public and dazzling cannons of confetti all ensured Winston was greeted in style.

Popular Thomas & Friends’ character, The Fat Controller, was also on hand to officially welcome his track inspection vehicle, a car on rails, and introduce him to the 20 other fantastic rides and attractions set within the magical Island of Sodor.

Winston takes passengers on a guided monorail tour around a themed track, giving a not-to-be missed bird’s eye view of the multi-million pound Thomas Land attraction. In good weather, the seven inspection vehicles will also be open-topped to add to the aerial experience.

The £750,000 ride commemorates the fifth anniversary of Europe’s only Thomas Land, which is also home to the Thomas the Tank Engine train ride, Troublesome Trucks Runaway Coaster, Cranky the Crane Drop Tower, Emily’s indoor play area, the world’s largest dedicated Thomas & Friends shop and much, much more.

Colin Bryan, CEO and Group Managing Director at Drayton Manor Theme Park and Hotel, said: “It’s an amazing honour for Drayton Manor to be home to Thomas Land and introducing a new character ride, Winston’s Whistle-Stop Tour, is the perfect way to mark its fifth anniversary at our park.

“Thomas & Friends has a magical quality that entertains the young and young at heart, and has done so for over six decades so it’s fantastic that for the past five years we’ve been a part of that.

“Everyone has had a great day here at the launch and we’re really looking forward to seeing people enjoy Winston for the remainder of the season and beyond.”

The 2013 season runs until Sunday 3rd November. To book tickets, or for more information about the park, visit www.draytonmanor.co.uk or call 0844 472 1960. Reduced prices are available for tickets bought in advance.
