Rope..mance at Drayton Manor Zoo

It was love at first sight when Pygmy Marmosets, Gizmo and Greta, arrived at Drayton Manor Park earlier this year, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
The dinky duo first met and became attached three weeks ago and now, after watching this adorable love story unravel the zoo is hoping for some cute babies to add to its successful breeding programme.
Pygmy Marmosets are the smallest known monkey species, so small in fact they weigh just 119g on average and babies can balance on a wine glass without upsetting it! These teeny tiny monkeys originate from the South American rainforest and while they are not particularly threatened in the wild, their natural habitat most definitely is, with one and a half acres being destroyed every second.
Chris Mitchell, Zoo Manager at Drayton Manor Park, said: “We are over the moon to announce the recent pairing of our delightful Pygmy Marmosets and we have loved watching their relationship grow. We now have our fingers crossed for some babies and look forward to aiding the population of this fascinating species.”
Visitors can see Gizmo and Greta for themselves during February half term from Saturday 18th – Sunday 26th February and during Thomas & Friends™ weekends which take place on Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th, Saturday 11th, Sunday 12th, Saturday 18th, Sunday 19th and Saturday 25th March.
