Improving Lichfield bus station and coach parking

Work has started on Lichfield District Council’s project to improve the Birmingham Road site in Lichfield, while long-term plans to redevelop the site are progressed.

Work will start on the bus station in February 2020, which includes closing the car park, toilets, footpath and some of the bus stops.

Coach parking

From 17 February work will start to create more coach parking (where the current car park is). During the works, detailed below, you will still be able to park coaches in the bus station, although the location will change once the car park has been resurfaced.

Our contractor, The Coleman Group, will direct coaches to where they can park when work gets underway.

Bus station toilets

From Wednesday 12 February the bus station toilets will be closed and replaced by two new temporary unisex toilets, one of which will have disabled access. These temporary toilets will be replaced by longer-term facilities in the spring.

Footpath closure

When the bus station shop and toilet block is being prepared for demolition from 12 February, it will need a safe working zone around it. This means the footpaths, that lead from Frog Lane (next to the multi-storey car park) to the bus station, will also need to be closed until the spring.

With this in mind, we recommend using the 20-minute drop-off point for your passengers on Beacon Street
