Our Green Badge Guided Tours provide a wide range of fantastic tours for all the family to enjoy. For a run-down of what each tour offers, take a look at the descriptions below. The tours are really popular, so we advise that you book early. For available tours please scroll down the page. To book tickets please call Lichfield Tourist Information Centre on 01543 256611 or call into the TIC in St Mary's on the Market Square which is open 9.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Saturday.

Please note that all tours are subject to availability. Tours will last for approximately 1.5 hours each, other than those which include refreshments. Please wear sensible shoes and appropriate clothing, especially on the winter evening tours.

Gruesome and Ghostly Tours

An evening to make your blood curdle and your spine tingle! The tour is rounded off with a visit to a local pub for a glass of mulled wine and a sausage roll.

2014 Dates: Thursday 23 and Tuesday 28 January; Wednesday 5 and Tuesday 11 February; Monday 20, Wednesday 22, Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 October; Tuesday 11, Wednesday 19, Thursday 20 and Wednesday 26 November; Thursday 4, Monday 8, Wednesday 10 and Monday 15 December. ** All the above tours start at 7pm.

Cost - £6.25 per person to include refreshments at a local pub after the tour

Boobies and Blockheads

This intriguingly named tour will tell you all you ever wanted to know about our most famous son, Dr Samuel Johnson. Find out who or what he termed a Boobie!

Dates: Saturday 20 September at 2pm

Cost:- £6 per person to include a delicious cream tea at St Mary's coffee shop following your tour.

Pubs, Priests and Prostitutes

Hear about some of Lichfield’s historic and interesting characters.

Dates: Monday 5 May and Monday 26 May; Saturday 12 July; Wednesday 20** and Monday 25 August

All tours start at 2pm other than ** Wednesday 20 August which starts at 7pm

Blood Thirsty Lichfield

This thrilling tour is based on the Ghost tours but has been designed especially for children. The tours have been scheduled with the school holidays in mind. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Dates: Wednesday 23 April and Wednesday 28 May, both at 2pm

Cost - £5.00 per person - to include refreshments:  a bloody red milkshake and biscuit for children, or a delicious cream tea for the grown up's at St Mary's coffee shop following the tour.

The Secret Gardens of Lichfield

Enjoy a relaxing stroll through Lichfield’s parks, green spaces and secret gardens.

Dates:  Wednesday 25 June at 2pm and Wednesday 9 July at 7pm**

Civil War Tour

Hear about the bloody battles that ensued and the events that had a huge impact on the city.

Dates: Wednesday 11 June at 2pm and Wednesday 16 July at 2pm

For Lovers of Romance

Find out about the romantic liaisons of some of Lichfield’s most famous sons and daughters!

Date: Sunday 20 July at 2pm

Georgian Gems

Lichfield was home to many famous Georgian characters and this tour charts their history.

Dates: Wednesday 30 July at 2pm

Alrewas Village Tour

A walking tour around the pretty and historic village which is also very close to the magnificent National Memorial Arboretum.

Dates: Sunday 27 July at 2pm.

Heritage Trail

Lichfield is one of the smallest cathedral cities in England and has a rich and varied past - learn more about our city on this heritage tour.
