Come along on one of the museum’s special days, when we will have some of our hidden treasures on display. You’ll be able to handle weapons, as featured in movies such as ‘Zulu’, ‘Where Eagles Dare’ and ‘A Bridge too Far’ and try on uniforms too. Our guides, dressed as WWI personnel, will take you on a tour of our full size reconstruction of a ‘Western Front’ trench system, complete with its Observation Post, fire steps, an Officer’s dug-out and even a mine, where the tunnelers are busy, digging beneath the enemy lines. The ‘Smart Street’ public shelter will be available for those that need to take cover when the air raid siren is sounded. Experience what it felt like to be on the receiving end of a WWII Luftwaffe bombing raid during ‘the Blitz’.
A member of our Research Team will be on hand to help with hints and general advice if you are having difficulties in finding information about your military ancestors.
Please be aware that due to time constraints, the researcher will not be able to research specific individuals during a Discovery Day event. For a detailed search on any Staffordshire Regiment personnel, an appointment can be made or details can be forwarded by letter or email to firstname.lastname@example.org As well as the above ‘constants’, there will other exhibitors, attractions and re-enactors on site, subject to availability. Announcements will be made on social media and the museum website, closer to individual dates.
