Erasmus Darwin House recently launched its special 6 week free entry period for the summer and since then the visitors have been flocking to the museum! During this time the museum is offering the chance to enjoy a special glimpse into the history of the Cathedral Close and the spooky cellars of the House.

The tours, entitled Behind ‘Close’ Doors and Below Stairs: The Cellars of Darwin House, will start and end at Erasmus Darwin House and will take in all the fascinating buildings, people and history of Lichfield Cathedral Close.

The Close tours will take place on 21st August and 4th September at 11.30am, and the Cellar tours will take place on 16th August at 11am and 24th August at 2pm.

Tickets cost only £1 each during this special promotional period and should be pre-booked to avoid disappointment. Each tour starts from Erasmus Darwin House and last between 1 and 1 and a half hours.

Alison Wallis, Manager of the museum, said “so far we’ve had a great response to our free entry promotion at Darwin House and we want to encourage more visitors by providing a special something extra which is not usually available.
