Swinfen Hall Hotel celebrates 25 years

Thursday October 11 2012

This year, the owners of Swinfen Hall Hotel, Helen and Vic Wiser, celebrate 25 years at the historic Staffordshire venue. The couple bought the building, which at the time stood empty, in January 1987.
After ten months of restoration and refurbishment, Swinfen Hall Hotel opened to the public.

The previously dilapidated manor house was transformed with extensive work carried out on the office, kitchen, gardens and bedrooms. The addition of many new features included en-suite bathrooms, downstairs toilets, a driveway up to the hall plus furniture, crockery and cutlery. The 17 bedroom Swinfen Hall Hotel was born.

Over the years, Swinfen Hall Hotel has achieved some fantastic accolades and awards. They have included The Taste of Staffordshire Restaurant of the Year award 2008, a Bronze Award from Investors in People in 2011 and this year, The Staffordshire Environmental Quality Mark. The Four Seasons Restaurant has 2 AA rosettes with the Head Chef aiming for 3! Since 2006 Swinfen Hall Hotel has also been awarded 4 Red Star status every year by the AA and is currently the only 4 Red Star hotel throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands.

Swinfen Hall Hotel is over 250 years old and is a Grade II* listed Georgian manor house. It sits in 100 acres of parkland, the majority of which have been purchased by the Wisers over the past 25 years. The hotel has its own 40-acre deer park where a healthy herd of Sika deer roam and live as naturally as possible. The hotel has a colourful history and was originally built for Samuel Swinfen’s family of 3 served by 55 domestic staff!

On reaching the 25 year milestone, Helen commented, “We feel very privileged to be custodians of such a magnificent building and thank the staff, our suppliers and of course our guests for their support and encouragement during the last twenty-five years. We still have plenty more goals for the years ahead, which is mainly to continue to restore the building and grounds in an environmentally-responsible way whilst continuing to raise our profile both locally and nationally”.
