Staff at Drayton Manor give children’s charity a ‘tree-mendous’ Christmas!

Monday December 21 2015

Tis’ the season of giving at Drayton Manor Theme Park, as last week (Friday 18th December 2015) staff donated a sleigh full of presents to charity KidsOut, helping to make Christmas brighter for underprivileged, disabled and special needs children.

Over the past month, staff at the family-owned theme park have been doing their bit for charity, hoping to provide underprivileged children with a magical Christmas. Three trees around the park were turned into special KidsOut Giving Trees, instead of decorations they were laden with decorative tags labelled with a child’s name, age and a suggested gift valued between £5-10.

An exciting alternative to the traditional Secret Santa, the Giving Trees meant staff could spread the Christmas cheer beyond the office to children who have very little of their own. To participate, all they had to do was collect a present tag from a tree, purchase a gift labelled on the tag and bring it unwrapped for the charity; the gifts were then collected by KidsOut who delivered them directly to children in refuge.

KidsOut is a charity that delivers positive and fun experiences to thousands of disadvantaged children throughout the UK. Colin Bryan, CEO at Drayton Manor Theme Park said, “KidsOut holds a special place in our hearts here at Drayton Manor and we wanted to do something a little different to help those in need. It means an awful lot to be able to bring a smile to the faces of these children and hope we can give them fond memories to look back on.”

“KidsOut aims to show children that things can get better and there’s hope for the future,” said Alice Capper, Fundraising Executive at KidsOut. “Even though they’ve had a bad start in life, people do care.”
