Venue: Sandwell Valley Country Park

FREE ENTRY to this exciting new plant fair on Saturday 14th April at Sandwell Valley Country Park. It’s a great time to get out in the garden and get planning and planting for the year ahead and where better to get inspiration than at a Plant Hunters Fair. The plants are lovingly grown by specialist nurseries who will bring a great range of perennials, shrubs, trees, rare species and old heritage varieties for a wide range of garden situations from hot sun to cool shade. These enthusiastic plants people are on hand to give honest, straightforward advice on choosing and growing the right plants for your garden.

The plant fair offers the opportunity to pop along and visit many specialist nurseries from across the country to get the gardening season off to a great start. At the same time why not enjoy a walk at this wonderful Country Park, whether you are a keen rambler, or just want to go for a walk with the dog or family, with 660 acres to walk round, you can go for a quiet stroll in pleasant surroundings through woods, farmland and by pools and streams.

Many of our footpaths are surfaced, providing access for all, though many are left as natural tracks to provide a sense of a real countryside. There is a trails map which shows the main footpaths through the Country Park and adjacent areas. To round off your trip why not enjoy a visit to Sandwell Park Farm, (there is a separate entry charge for this) a fully restored working Victorian farm. Grazing meadows, a traditional farmyard, Grade II listed buildings, a small museum and award-winning tea rooms to provide a perfect day out. The farm is home to a number of rare breed animals and is a member of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. There is also a fully restored walled kitchen garden, which grows whenever possible, the varieties of vegetables and fruit grown are those available before 1900.

As well as this wide range of everyday vegetables and fruit, more exotic plants are grown in our glasshouses, including citrus fruit, bananas, melons and vines. The plant fair runs from 10am-4pm. Free entry to the plant fair (pay & display parking). For full details of nurseries attending please see www.planthuntersfairs.co.uk
