Get festive in Lichfield City and District this Christmas

Tuesday November 29 2016

Aileen Beesley, Cllr Helen Fisher, David Tomalin 2Plan your Christmas with the help of a great new guide to all the fun that is going on across Lichfield District this yuletide.

Lichfield District Council’s tourism service, Visit Lichfield, in partnership with Lichfield Business Improvement District, has produced the ‘Get Festive in Lichfield City and District this Christmas’ guide, which brings together a month of events and activities for all the family.

From carol services to a Santa fun run, there is so much going on. A highlight of the calendar are the two Christmas Festival Weekends in Lichfield City on 3 & 4 and 10 & 11 December. These weekend events are set to feature a range of markets packed with beautiful gifts and artisan food and drink, as well as events, such as The Johnson Family Christmas and Erasmus Darwin’s 285th Birthday Celebrations.

The booklet also lists Lichfield Cathedral and Lichfield BID’s much anticipated light shows, The Angels are Coming, as well as the cathedral’s lantern parade and Christmas Tree Festival.

The Lichfield Garrick has plenty on offer with its pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, the children’s show, Dear Santa, and the ‘anti panto’, Crimes Against Christmas.

There is also plenty of fun for the family at the Christmas Festival in Burntwood on Saturday 3 December, which includes free Santa presents, face painting, fun fair rides and more.

Councillor Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Tourism & Communications, said:

“The run up to Christmas is always such a busy time and this brochure is the perfect way to plan in a month of festive activities. On top of events taking place right across the district, you can also find out how to nominate a local retailer who has given you fantastic customer service and the Twelve Days of Christmas promotion, which offers shoppers free treats.”

David Tomalin, Lichfield BID Manager, said:

“We’re delighted to support this lovely brochure, which is a useful guide to all the fabulous festive events taking place in Lichfield and beyond this Christmas.”

The Get Festive in Lichfield City and District this Christmas brochure has been produced by Visit Lichfield and was sponsored by Lichfield BID.

Around 40,000 brochures have been sent to local homes and copies are also available from Tourist Information at St Mary’s in the Market Square.
