Blooming Lichfield once again achieves Silver Gilt in Heart of England in Bloom

Monday September 19 2016

Well the judging day came & went in July and so the Heart of England in Bloom presentation celebration took place at Aldridge Parish Church Hall on 15th September.

Blooming Lichfield once again achieved a SILVER/GILT Award (for the 5th year)

Two other awards were also presented to Lichfield, one was an Environmental Award to The Lichfield Canal Trust in recognition for the work they are carrying out including the planting of new plants & trees along the canal route.

The second was an award to a Lichfield resident, Sylvia Davis of Beacon Street. Sylvia lives opposite Beacon Street Garage who made us aware of her efforts. The award was for 'Greening Grey Britain' because as she does not have a garden herself, she had taken over a strip of ground in the arch opposite the garage & planted up pots & added shrubs for colour. The judges were so impressed with her efforts that they recommended her for this special award.

So that's it for 2016, we are now planning for next year!

The Bloom campaign was supported by Lichfields' County Councillors, Eagland, Finn, Smith, White & Woodward from their funds & by Lichfield City Council, Lichfield District Council Parks team and Lichfield BID. Lichfield City Council & the Parks team have already pledged their ongoing support for 2017.
