UPDATE: The future of city coach parking in Lichfield City

Lichfield City is going through a major programme of redevelopment. Currently one of our major car parks, the Friary Outer is being redeveloped into a new multi-storey car park, hotel and restaurant. As a result of this the two coach parking unloading bays on The Friary are now closed while the redevelopment is in progress. When the develoment has been completed alternate unloading bays wil be identified. In the meantime coaches should use the main coach park on the Birmingham Road, or the unloading bays on Beacon Street.

In addition, the Bus Station car park is also planned for major redevelopment. A new shopping and leisure complex is set to be developed on the site of the Bus Station and the existing multi-storey car park. A date for the development is not yet set, however plans are progressing well. A pre-planning application condition of the development is to establish alternative coach parking spaces, which the team is working on at the moment, further information will be made available as soon as they are up and running. The new spaces will have a CCTV link and will have pay and display machines, so that coach drivers will not need to walk to the Tourist Information Centre for a ticket.
